Many of the people you see at Stepney are volunteers who give their time for free.

Volunteers are fundamental to the ability of the Stables to deliver its service. They undertake a variety of tasks from mucking out to management and receive training on the key aspects of their work. Without them we just wouldn't be here!

Horses are labour intensive so our greatest need is for those who will help us care for them and provide support with the rides. Many students who are away from home and their equine friends find they are able to give something back whilst satisfying their wish to be around equines. Often it is possible to work in return for rides and many others are here to gain valuable work experience such as those that provide support for our special needs children or young people with behavioural problems.

Our volunteers give us access to a wide range of skills and abilities with some capable of acting as staff cover when necessary.

It is only through the commitment of our volunteers that Stepney has been able to achieve so much.
