Staff Profiles

Denise Wilson – Equestrian Manager (with Erin)
Denise is a British Horse Society Stable Manger and Intermediate Instructor. Denise has competed nationally in Eventing and Showing but her particular passion is Dressage. Denise has worked at Stepney for 7 years. In her previous role she was yard Manager at a large National Hunt stud. Denise oversees the training and care of the horses and manages the equestrian staff. Denise is available to teach during the day.
Sara Newson – Young people’s Project Lead/Customer Services (with Willow)
Sara has a BSc (hons) in Equine Sport Science and an NVQ level 5 in Volunteer Management. Sara manages the day to day running of the centre and oversees the Children and Young People’s projects. Sara is responsible for timetables and lesson planning so if there is anything particular you would like us to offer please come and have a chat to her. Sara can be contacted at


Tracey Hutchinson - Instructor
Tracey is a British Horse Society Assistant Instructor and a level 1 Centred Riding Instructor. She takes a coaching approach to her work using a variety of techniques such as positive psychology and neuro lingustic programming to help people understand their riding. She particularly enjoys working with people new to the sport or who wish to regain their confidence. Tracey runs our Step by Step Programme here at Stepney. She has her own horse and successfully competes in British Dressage affiliated competitons.

Erin Le Gallez – 8-11’s Project Worker
Erin has worked at Stepney in several roles over the years! She has her BHS stage 3 and years of experience working with both horses and children. Erin has a horse called Niamh who is loaned by Larnie! Erin is in on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, and can be contacted at
Phillipa Compson – 12-18’s Project Worker (with Auberry)
Phillipa has a BA in Early Years Care and Education & Childhood Studies. She works with our 12-18 year olds providing support and delivering training to our teenagers. Phillipa has 3 horses at home and competes locally. Phillipa is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Phillipa is currently on Maternity leave but Sara will pick up her emails and can help with anything 12-18's related, you can contact Sara at

 Larnie Moule - Yard worker

Larnie joined as a young volunteer and then went away to work on showing and dressage yards as an apprentice. She now runs the yard during the evenings, makes sure that horses are in the right place at the right time for lessons and that all the volunteers are doing what they are meant to!


 Kailey White - Instructor

Kailey joined as a young volunteer and has progressed through her British Horse Society and UK Coaching Certificates as part of our scholarship scheme. Kailey has a particular skills with children and is available to teach on Saturday outdoor lessons.

  Olivia Drinkwater - Instructor
Olivia started teaching whilst working at the Highland Riding Centre over five years ago and continued during her two years at North Highland College - and more recently at Barrglen Equitation Centre in Kintyre.  Olivia has her BHS stage 3 and her UKCC level 1.
Olivia particularly enjoys helping and encouraging riders of all ages who are working towards their BHS and Pony Club examinations. Olivia teaches on Monday evevings.


Ruth Coyne - Administrator

Ruth is responsible for all our administration and keeping our office ship-shape! Not a small task since stable yard items seem to find a way to gravitate into our recption office! Ruth is the person to speak to about Birthday Parties or if you'd like to adopt a horse. Ruth also fosters animals for Animal Krackers. Ruth can be contacted at

Fran Norton – Yard Support (with Reiver)
Fran is currently training through her BHS stages exams and has recently aquired her BHS Intermediate Stable Manager certificate. In her previous role she worked in an equestrian centre supporting adults with special needs. At Stepney she works alongside Denise and Rob on the yard and teaches lessons on Sundays and Wednesdays. Fran has a young horse at home whom she is starting to train. Fran can be contacted at
Clare Morrow – Youth Work Trainee (with Bonnie)
Clare is working through an NVQ level 3 in Youth Work on an apprenticeship funded by Sported. Clare has attended the project as a young volunteer and now plans activities and delivers training and team building sessions to our children and young people.

 Sarah Hoath - Steel   - Marketing and Development Coordinator

Sarah has returned to Stepney after being away for a couple of years.  Sarah has worked for a number of different professional yards since acheiving an HND in Equine Business Managment, her background is Eventing.  After teaching at Stepney for nearly three years, she is now responsible for Marketing and Events.  She loves social media, and occasionally still gets the chance to teach a lesson now and again.

 Olivia Pringle - Youth Work Apprentice

Olivia started with us as a young person and has now joined the youth work team  Oliva recently competed in the National Riding School Chamionships on Lara.
